Dr. Mulligan founded Blue Heron Biotechnology in 1999 after a decade of genomics research experience including establishment and management of one of the two Human Genome Centers at Stanford University and directing genomics research at Darwin Molecular.
Mr. Fess joined Blue Heron in 2005 as Chief Operating Officer to oversee Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Information Systems and to direct ongoing redesign and deployment of critical business systems. He was named Chief Executive Officer in October 2006 as part of Blue Heron's continuing strategy to build the business and forge key partnerships with leading industry players. Mr. Fess brings over 25 years of experience to Blue Heron from assignments at companies ranging from startups to Fortune five, in the oil, semiconductor and computer-related industries. He holds degrees in Math, Computer Science, and Operations Research from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Dr. Tabone has a long background in biotechnology product development at companies including Darwin Molecular, Chiroscience, Rapigene, and Microprobe. Prior to developing GeneMaker at Blue Heron Bio, he led technical teams in the development of diagnostics and research tools, including a 96-well synthesis filter, Masscode tags and DNA Reaction Control technologies, technology for high throughput SNP genotyping, and solid support for DNA hybridization and DNA crosslinking technologies.
Prior to joining Blue Heron Biotechnology, Dr. Brickner
was responsible for development, sourcing and integration
of bioinformatics and cheminformatics software systems at
Chiroscience and Darwin Molecular. He started his professional
career at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Staff Member
in the Computer Research and Applications Group.
